sm_hrt_logo.gifHow We Are Different

A.gifmericare Home Health is an agency owned by clinicians who care. Not by businessmen whose main focus is the bottom line. Anthony is an Occupational Therapist born and raised in Jacksonville. Tom has a background in Physical Therapy and made Jacksonville his home ten years ago.

Working for other home care agencies, we saw some disturbing commonalities. As a marketer in the field, Tom, far too often, found himself having to apologize for poor patient care, and making excuses for the agency not being able to back up the level of service that he was promising his referral sources. Anthony, providing care to patients as an occupational therapist on a contract basis for many local agencies, noticed a lack of emphasis on the quality of care patients were receiving from the agencies. Short visits and poor patient outcomes were far too common. Emphasis on revenue, rather than patient needs, seemed to be the norm.

In 2004, we opened Americare Home Health, a full-service homecare agency where quality was the focus. As clinician-owners, Anthony and Tom take a very “hands-on” approach with operating Americare.  An example of this is recruiting proven, like-minded staff, those who we knew to be the strongest in the area. Caregivers that we knew we could trust to take care of patients the same way they would. After all, an agency is only as good as the quality of its staff.

“We became therapists because it was our desire and in our nature to take care of the injured and infirmed and help them live a better life. We started an agency because we knew it would afford us the opportunity to do this on a much greater scale.”
